CUA Community Care

Problem:
Active Edge Promotions came to us to create a brand new site for them. They were in the process of creating a community development platform that encourages communities to propose ideas they’d like developed at their school. Their idea was that the public would vote on which 10 ideas most deserved a $5,000 grant from CUA to help turn that idea into reality. From us they needed a user-friendly site that allowed staff at schools to easily submit and share their ideas. The site should then enable a simple voting process. They also asked that the site should be designed to be a reusable platform for subsequent campaigns.

Solution:
We developed their campaign website using the CodeIgniter framework. The key was to make sure the website was extremely user-friendly and responsive for submissions, votes and vote management. A partner kiosk app was developed to allow voting in CUA branches.

Outcome:
Both the site and the campaign have been extremely successful every year since they first launched it in 2011. They have dozens of schools participating each year with tens of thousands of votes being received through the site and app as well as $50K given away each year. The purpose-built site has remained easy to use, fresh looking and seamless for every year of the campaign.
